Don't Let This Happen to You!

What a mess!  I hope you don't have something like this going at your house. Thinking I would be home for days and would get organized in that time, I dragged all sorts of accumulated things out of the long, deep guest room closet . . . and they have been waiting upstairs on the landing ever since.  Old craft projects and supplies, fabric and sewing notions and clothing I once thought I might repair.  But wait, there's more--that's just what I dragged out of the guest room.

With no family events here or friends coming by, it has been easy to keep every minute busy while walking past that mess a few times a day.  I've always been a terrible procrastinator and "worked to a deadline," so I'm finally giving myself a deadline.

Today is the day to take care of the mess.  I'm sorting everything into groups, including a give away or discard bag, better labeling the boxes I'm keeping,  choosing placement based on how often I might need or use the items, throwing away dried-up paints and other unusables, and celebrating with an overdue vacuuming afterward.  The guest room bed will be clear, in case friends or family come to stay--unlikely, since most of them live nearby.

The beautiful Longaberger Khaki Check weave baskets in the old secretary in back won't be going anywhere, of course, but they will at least be visible again.  In 2014, 2015, and 2016, Longaberger created several beautiful Khaki Check baskets with a weave combining Light Warm Brown and Black upsplints and Soft Gray weaving (goes around).  Khaki Check was first a fabric name, which had the coordinate Khaki Floral.
