Improving on the Ol' Snow Blanket

Long white fake fur!  I haven't appreciated it this much since I gave up on making stuffed animals.  You may have figured this out long ago, but I've just found that white fake fur is a better alternative to the fluffy white "snow" (quilt batting) blanket in winter displays and under trees.

I am tempted to enjoy these white flocked trees with white owls until Easter, but they probably won't be up much longer.  I loved using the white fur under the trees instead of the snow blanket.  Fur tree skirts were sold out at the site where I found them online, so I went to a fabric store and bought two yards of white fur.  I cut it in two pieces (for two skirts) and rounded off the corners but didn't make it a circular shape.  I didn't want to lose that much fur, and you can always fold under what you don't need.  I made a cut to the middle in each skirt and cut out a small circle to go around the tree trunk.  For trees with removable flat bases, you could also just cut a small center hole for the spike in the stand and not have to make other cuts.

At this rate, this may be the most snow we see around here all winter!  No one will complain about that but me, though.
