Longaberger's cute Strawberry Spring Basket, an online exclusive for 5 days in 2011, is the basis for a favorite summer display for me. The pretty red pressed glass Strawberry Jam Jar, available in 2005, is a great example of an exclusive Longaberger Collectors Club item--you need to join The Club, if you haven't already! The Boyds Bear "Strawberry Friends" figurine came from a group of special teacher friends when I changed grade levels years ago. I always enjoy the quote on the bottom: "Real friends will share even a strawberry" (Proverb). Those friends shared a lot of love and support over the years.
The old jar of strawberry tickets has some local history. When we used to go to the fair (the Old Soldiers & Settlers Reunion) in Cassville in the summer, we always got to hear how Mom and Dad had to spend their own money when they went as kids, usually earned by picking strawberries. Cassville, Missouri and Barry County as a whole apparently had success raising strawberries at one point. The jar makes me sad--someone picked those berries and didn't get to cash in the tickets!
